My friend Lisa tagged me this week, so here I go:
1. 10 years ago: I was just finishing my first year at Ricks (now BYU-Idaho).
2. 5 things on my to-do list today: go to bed early, read my scriptures before reading my novel, mop my floors, make cookies for a YW dinner, give Sami and Jonathan lots of kisses.
3. Snacks I enjoy: cookies, M&Ms, cookies with M&Ms, apples, chocolate milk, cashews, anything chocolate.
4. What I would do if I were suddenly a billionaire: pay off our student loans, buy new cars, pay off my parents' and siblings' debt, buy lots of books from amazon.com, buy Samantha lots of Jumperoos, and invest for our children's college and missions.

Happy Easter!

I love this picture of Samantha in her rabbit hat. We are so grateful for her, and what Easter means for us as a family. We are so thankful to know about our Savior, and his resurrection, and the assurance that one day, we too will be resurrected and united as a family. In this chaotic and unpredictable world, I am so grateful for the peace and hope that the gospel brings into our home and into our personal lives.

The Many Faces of Jonathan

What do you do when you're bored in the back seat of a car? Do you take pictures of yourself making lots of different faces to amuse yourself? I found these on the camera and knew exactly what I wanted to do with them. Jonathan typed in what each face means. I think I must be married to the funnest man ever!

Our Family

Our North Carolina Cookies

We are cookie lovers! My favorite is chocolate chip, but sometimes we need variety. On Dec. 7th, I was home baking a batch of these soft gingersnaps. Around noon, Jonathan came home and said that an ice storm was coming and that we needed to leave for North Carolina. I packed up the cookies (among other things), and we left. We ate these cookies all the way to North Carolina. No, it wasn't healthy, but it was delicious! The next day our beautiful daughter was born. So now I love making these cookies because it reminds me of our wonderful trip to NC and they are, of course, soft, chewy, and tasty!

Marge Thueson's Soft Gingersnaps

3/4 cup butter 1 egg

1 cup sugar 2 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup molasses 1 tsp. ginger

2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. cloves

1 tsp. cinnamon additional sugar

1/2 tsp. salt

Cream butter in a large bowl; gradually add 1 cup sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add egg and molasses, and beat well. Sift together flour, soda, salt, and spices. Add to creamed mixture, beating until smooth. Chill 2 hours.

Shape dough into 3/4 inch balls, and roll in additional sugar to coat well. Place 2 inches apart on greased baking sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Cookies will puff up and flatten. Cool slightly on cookie sheets; remove to wire racks to cool completely. ENJOY!!
